A woman is designed so that she should menstruate each month.  But what is a normal period?  In Chinese medicine we see a normal period as being painless, no clots, starts off fresh bright red, shouldn’t be too heavy or too light and lasts approximately 5 days.  A normal menstrual cycle should be 28 days.  But how many women do you know of that has a period like this?  My guess would be very few if any.

A lot of women tend to suffer from things like period pain, irregular menstruation and PMS, as well as conditions such as endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  Stress and emotions can play a huge part in a woman’s physiology and cause the body not to work as smoothly as it normally would.  There are other factors that can also contribute to a woman having menstrual complaints whether it is diet, lifestyle or environmental factors.  Chinese medicine takes all of this into consideration and works to help improve the blood or energy in the body and get them flowing smoothly to help restore a woman’s normal physiology.

Another common problem that women often complain of in later life is menopause.  Some women are fortunate enough to go through menopause with no symptoms while others may suffer from terrible hot flushes and night sweats as well as other complaints.  Chinese medicine works very effectively to help manage the symptoms of menopause and helps balance the body to reduce the heat and sweats.
